Gold Star for Daddy

I give a huge gold star to B-Dad for taking the boys to see Bee Movie this past weekend.   I had a baby shower to go to so it was just B-Dad and the boys.   What were they going to do I asked B-Dad.  "I"m going to take them to see Bee Movie."   "Both of them?" I asked.   "Yep."    Wow.    I wouldn't have attempted that, not with the sumo baby still being so young.   But they went and they stayed for the entire movie.   Granted they had to sit in the second row because the theatre was so crowded.     But B-Dad said that they got anxious a few times, but mainly stayed in their seat watching the movie.    Wow.   

Now when they see the trailers for the movie on tv, they both yell "Bee Movie!   Bee Movie!".    The aramdillo wants to see it again.  Of course.

The Car Gene

Are boys just born with the gene that makes them love cars?   The armadillo is only 2 and he already has this fascination with cars.   He is obsessed with what he refers to as "rides".   Of course this applies to the Disney movie "Cars".   The main character Lightening McQueen is lovingly referred to as 'Light Light' by the armadillo.   Even though the armadillo has yet to see the movie he already owns a number of 'Cars' movie products.   He owns a few 'Light Light' car models, has a couple pj's, a phone, and a pair of well-loved 'Light Light' shoes.     He wears those shoes everyday that he's already worn down part of the heels.   

I know B-Dad is secretly pleased with this obsession.   Inside B-Dad is strutting with the pigeon chest thinking, "My boy loves cars ... cars ... not dolls ... cars ... yeah!", then strikes one of those weightlifting poses for good measure.   Men, they are so predictable.   

Hottie on a Hot Day

Can this day get any hotter?    This hapa (half caucasian/half asian) hottie is Daniel Henney.   He is a South Korean actor born to a British father and Korean-American mother.       Daniel Henney has modeled for numerous ads, including one for Bean Pole International with Gwyneth Paltrow.   He has also co-starred in the Korean drama, My Name is Kim Sam Soon.     Too bad we don't have access to Korean dramas here in the Bay Area, or at least I think we don't.     I would definitely have watched it.

My Favorite Pirate

I truly hope to see this movie, Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest in the theatre.   There were a few other movies that I told myself I have to see but of course, they have come and gone.    I'll wait it out a couple of weeks and see if I have any free time.   Yeah right.

Movie Picks

Here's a fabulous movie pick for the summer.   This is something you can definitely watch with the family.   You will laugh your pa-tooties off!    Paul Giamatti is hilarious!

The teen liar then has to match wits with Wolf, who also turns out to be a big liar.

Da Vinci Code Fever

I personally am eagerly anticipating the release of this movie.  I read the book and loved loved loved it!   Here's a short snyopsis of the book by Dan Brown for those of you that have been living under a rock for the past few years ...

The murder of a curator at the Louvre reveals a sinister plot to uncover a secret that has been protected since the days of Christ. Only the victim's granddaughter and Robert Langdon, a famed symbologist, can untangle all the clues he left behind. The duo become both suspects and detectives searching for not only the murderer but also the stunning secret of the ages he was charged to protect.   - Synopsis from Yahoo.com

What this movie also reveals is that it makes the case that Jesus Christ was married to Mary Magdalene, and that they had children.  Of course you could imagine the uproar this has caused around the world.   Now that the movie is being released this weekend, the protest fever has spread.    Christian groups from South Korea, Thailand, Greece, and India have planned boycotts and hunger strikes. 

I could understand how these groups may find the movie offensive because of their religious views, but come on.   It's a book, a fictional book.  The author I believe has never said that the book was based on fact.   I also don't believe there is anything in the movie to depict the Catholic Church and its teachings in a negative way.   I suppose this movie will be a "test of faith" to people that are not strict religious zealots.   

But despite all of the negative press this movie is generating due to the protests, etc ...  I believe that all press, whether good or bad, is good press.   

It's an Impossible Mission

Normally I would be excited about this movie.   That is before this whole Tomkat, Tomkitten, "Space Baby", ... garb that has been out for the past 9 months.   In that time I've learned that Tom Cruise is somewhat insane.   Now don't get me wrong, it's not the whole Scientology deal.   I don't care what people believe in, it's their prerogative.   But it's the strange behavior on Oprah, the specially made pacifier for Katie Holmes to keep her quiet during the birth of their child (it's believed in Scientology that a silent, or quiet birth is best for the child, yeah whatever, I bet a man made up that theory), dropping 'Katie' for 'Kate' since Tom Cruise feels that 'Katie' is a young girl's name and not appropriate for a woman with a child, and the list goes on and on.    I would hope that the media is greatly exaggerating things, but then again who knows.   With all of this there is no way I can sit in a movie theater for 2 hours watching Tom's face on screen.  I'll just keep thinking about how much of a kook he is and won't be able to focus on the movie.   It's a shame too.   I like Phillip Seymour Hoffman and he is in the movie as well.

But if someone asked me if I would have Tom Cruise's baby and live a life full of the finest things, in exchange for giving him total control over my life, would I do it? ...   In a heartbeat.

Still Sick

I hate being sick.   What’s worse than being sick?   Worse is having a sick child to take care of as well.   I really shouldn’t complain.   I guess it could be worse.   I could have 2 sick children to care for, but thankfully the lil’ lamb is doing fine.  Whew!   But poor armadillo, he had a fever yesterday, over 101.   We gave him some Tylenol and that did the trick.  Today his temperature is back to normal and he has refilled his tank of “mischief” and was busy making good on what he could not last night.   I on the other hand you could say is faring a bit better.   So far I’m fighting a stuffy nose, sneezing and a big-time nasal drip …  eewwww!    I hate being sick.   The armadillo and I were sick 2 weeks ago, and now we’re sick again.   I guess I’m going to have to get used to that since the armadillo has been meeting up w/his playgroup with all of his little buddies.   I know we’re bound to catch something every month at least.   Something to look forward to.

The latest DVD’s B-Dad and I managed to squeeze out time for in the last month were Lord of War, Jarhead and Wedding Crashers.   I can’t say that I would recommend any of them, maybe Jarhead if I had to recommend something.   

Here’s my DVD pick of the week … The Game starring Michael Douglas and Sean Penn.   The movie is a bit old, it was released in 1997, but this movie doesn’t age.   You know how some movies you can tell just by the clothes, scenery, etc … how old the film is, but with The Game, the film just doesn’t age.    Storyline is brilliant and I’m a fan of Michael Douglas and Sean Penn.    If you haven’t seen this movie I highly recommend it … 5 stars!

If you live in the Bay Area like me, this movie is a perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.
