Convince Me Again

I am in a state of disarray and I need some convincing.   My hair is falling out, my scalp is falling apart, and now my vision is going bad.    I have been wearing glasses since I got pregnant with the sumo baby.   I read that being pregnant can affect your vision so I stopped wearing contact lenses.   Now that I've had the sumo baby I've tried going back to contacts.   But being on the breastfeeding brigade has taken another swipe at my essence.   The glasses I've been wearing are no longer up to par.   My left eye is blurry and my right eye is weak.   It's a pain and highly annoying.   

Contact lenses are not an option for me either.  I can only wear them for a couple of hours before my eyes feel as if I have someone's finger pressing on them.    Then when I take them off my eyes get so red I look like I've been smoking pot all night.   I must have made a great impression dropping off the boys at the gym daycare yesterday with my bloodshot eyes.  I could just imagine what the staff must have said ...

"Oh boy, we got ourselves another stoner mama ..."    

It's off to Lenscrafters this weekend ... is it still glasses in an hour?  I doubt it ...

What time period would you have lived in, if you could have lived at any time?

One of my favorite all time movies is Gosford Park.   It is a drama with mulitple storylines set in 1932 England.   The movie tells the stories of the lives of the upstairs guests and downstairs servants at a party in a country house in England.      Since watching this movie I've been curious as to what life would be like if I lived both "upstairs" and "downstairs".    What would my life be like if I had servants who tended to my every need or if it was the other way around.   Could I follow the strict rules that the servants had to follow every day, for little money and practically no free time?   I highly doubt that.  I have to honestly say that I am lazy by nature.  One of my least attractive qualities.   Therefore to answer the question, I would like to have lived in the "upstairs" world of English royalty in the 1930's.    To have numerous people serving my every whim and need would be quite an experience.    My favorite hired help? ... The cook of course ...

He Hit a Milestone

Today was a good day in the ongoing daycare saga.   The armadillo no longer tries to follow me out of the play area but he does cry a little, just a little.   But his big milestone today was eating his snacks.  Doesn't sound like much but it's huge in terms of his progress of getting comfy with the gym's daycare.  Today the staff girls put the armadillo in a highchair, all toddlers have to eat in highchairs (eliminates chance of messes).     What used to happen before was that the staff would ask him if he wanted his snacks and he would answer "no".   The staff decided to just put him in there and give him his snacks.   Sure enough it worked.    The armadillo was just starting to eat his snacks when I came in to pick him up.  His back was facing towards me so he couldn't see me.   I was talking to one of the staff girls and at the same time, another staff girl was encouraging him to eat.   He managed to eat a good portion of his snacks and drink his juice.    Yea armadillo!    He was so proud of himself.   After being in the chair for about 15 minutes he saw me and was smiling from ear to ear.   The armadillo was showing me how he was eating his snacks and drinking his juice.    I love that smile, the smile that the armadillo knew he was doing a terrific thing.     You could just feel the pride emulating from him.   I was ecstatic!   

Hopefully this is another step towards getting himself at ease with the daycare.    What was also a big plus was that the daycare added these two wonderful wooden school buses.   The buses are adorned with various gadgets to play with, along with the obligatory sterring wheel, gear shifter, etc ...    It's also kind of a bummer too.   They are selling the exact same buses at Costco and B-Dad and I wanted to get one for the boys.   I'm thinking we should get one.   It will last for awhile at least until the sumo baby gets too old for it.   

I can see that sun starting to rise ...

The Jefferson's Weekend is Over

Whew the Jeffersons' weekend has come and gone.   Three days of non-stop Jefferson's on the TV Land channel.    Yes, it was 24 hours 3 days straight of Jefferson's after Jefferson's.   I feel like I'm going through Jefferson's withdrawal.   It was great.  I know B-Dad is ectastic that this weekend is over because he no longer has to listen to "We're Movin' on Up", the theme song over and over again.   If I was single or had the weekend to myself, I would have planted my big butt on the sofa, and watch the whole marathon with a big glass of Diet Coke, cookies and my trusty TIVO remote.    How relaxing!   

I'm glad that we have a huge drive on our TIVO recorder.  I think I got the whole weekend recorded.   Now it's going to be a Jefferson's month for me!    Thank Goodness for TIVO!

Conversations from the Pool ...

B-Dad took the armadillo to the pool yesterday afternoon.   The weather was blistering so it was a good way to cool off, plus the armadillo loves going in the pool splashing and jumping around.   While they were there at the pool there was also a little girl around 3.  She was there with her mother and infant sibling.   The little girl's mother was busy feeding her baby so the little girl was making conversations with the armadillo and B-Dad.   She gleefully told the armadillo that she was taller than him, talk talk, taller than him, chit chat, taller, etc ...    After she got through getting her point across the precocious little girl turned to B-Dad.     Staring straight at B-Dad she asked ...

"Why do you have fur?"

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!    You see B-Dad does have a bit of chest hair and she was a bit perpelexed.   Her mom then went on to explain that the little girl's father suffers from hair loss and is not used to seeing a man with hair on his body.     I'm so not looking forward to when the armadillo and sumo baby develop their lack of discretionary comments.
