It's only a few days now and the armadillo will be moving to his "Big Boy" bed in his new room. We ordered a bunch of furniture from Bombay Kids. The armadillo is getting a new bed, matching trundle, dresser and night stand. It was a pretty good deal for all four pieces. The furntiture pieces are marked down from their regular price for some decent savings. The armadillo is getting a full size bed. So big for my little boy but we wanted something big enough for B-Dad and I to lie on as well. Just in case the armadillo has a tough time adjusting to his new room. Not only is the armadillo getting new bedroom furniture, he's getting a different room. We're moving the armadillo to the former office. We decided to leave the armadillo's room "as is" so that my little sumo wrestler can go right in there. Neither B-Dad or I felt like moving furniture especially when there was no need to.
This past weekend we went to my favorite store, Target and bought the armadillo new bedding. I am against doing "themes" because I don't want to have to get rid of the racing car wall clock, racing car bedding, racing car rug, etc ... when the armadillo decides he's too old for racing cars. We are just doing a simple blue print quilt with denim accents.
I was shocked to see how expensive it was to set your child up with new bedroom furniture. With the furniture, bedding, and mattress we've spent over $2500. The armadillo's mattress alone was $1000. Yikes! Ah but what the heck, we wanted him to have items that would last so spend now and we don't have to worry about holes in the bed 6 months from now.
To be honest I'm nervous about my armadillo moving out of his crib. That just solidifies to me that he is no longer my baby. He's 2 and he's growing in to a fine little man. I hope he'll enjoy his new room so that we will have a simple transition.
